NEW BRAVADO returns to us from atop a golden star making golden showers of golden acid on our brown, dirty heads. Blueing and blacking, this band has appreciated further time travels, backpassing Sabbath and instead bounding into the heavy psych and power fuzz of the 60s, whence came Eden’s Children, Banshee, Lincoln Street Exit.” –American Gloam

KILLER MOON is a psychedelic journey of three friends throughout the best years and times of our lives, reflected within our music. We are chasing a high mountain one that will enrich our souls, and make us better people and musicians. Our journey is one of love, anger, pain, sweat, and blood. Psychedelic jam band with classic rock and doomy sludge undertones. Extended instrumentals paired with ambient vocals make KILLER MOON a must see for anyone looking to expand their mind and musical horizons.

MIMI VON SCHNITZL began on four-track by J.Glenn — a.k.a. Mimi Von — in the summer of 2005. The spring of 2011 brought new life on keyboards from Rory Hanka creating swaths of colour from a Hammond and Korg. Andy Matter soon rounded out the sound with his 21-fret bass guitar named Belmont. Floating through the stratosphere as a three-piece, playing the occasional live gig with friends setting in to fill out the sound, MVS began recording as a three piece at Kent O’Bryan’s Wax and Tape Recording Studio in the winter of 2012. The sessions yielded half of the tracks that would become the debut MVS album. Expert circuit bender/guitar pedal builder Jace Stone was invited to shred an electric guitar solo on “Jenkum Jam.” a song on “Head Cleaner: A Louisville Music Compilation” by Gubbey records in 2013, and he has been with the outfit ever since. Following a fine tuning of the songs at Rory’s digs in Clarksville, IN, MVS would return to Wax and Tape as a four piece in 2014 to flesh out its first album to completion.

MADAME MACHINE, TEMPLE OF THE GOLDEN DAWN, and THE GOSPEL TRUTH at ZANZABAR, Thursday, June 20th

Cropped Out and The Other Side of Life present:

MADAME MACHINE (Louisville, KY; on Noise Pollution)
TEMPLE OF THE GOLDEN DAWN (Louisville, KY)
THE GOSPEL TRUTH (Austin, TX; on 12XU)

Thursday, June 20th
at ZANZABAR
2100 S. Preston
$6, advance tickets available here: http://zanzabarlouisville.ticketfly.com/event/285823-madame-machine-louisville/.
9 PM, 21-and-over!

MADAME MACHINE is a Louisville trio consisting of David Cundiff (Lucky Pineapple, Bodyhammer), Salena Filichia (Julie of the Wolves), and Forrest Kuhn (Ennui, Sunspring, Black Cross). They’ve released one excellent 7″ on Louisville’s Noise Pollution label, and have played with the likes of The Teeth, Parlour, Softcheque, Hal Dolls, and other local delinquents. They’re rapidly becoming known as one of the best bands in town, so don’t miss them!

TEMPLE OF THE GOLDEN DAWN was founded in early 2012 for the purpose of studying spiritual awakenings through low-frequency bombardment as well as transcendental mind expansion using electric six-string techniques. The founding four members (Scott Brooks [guitar, vocals], J. Brian Reese [guitar, vocals], J Brent Stewart [bass], and Pinker Lichvar [drums]) have come together from the remnants of other Orders & Secret Societies (Les Debutantes, L&N, Manchuria, The Ravenna Colt) to seek, together, further enlightenment and a Universal Knowledge.

Austin’s THE GOSPEL TRUTH have been knocking around since 2007, but it’s only been in the past two years that vocalist/saxophonist/keyboard player Mark Tonucci’s quartet have really caught fire. All-malicious-intent in a way that runs contrary to Austin’s party vibe, they’ve emerged as one of the town’s top live bands in the process. Not only is it hard to come up with a regional precedent for THE GOSPEL TRUTH, it’s almost as tough to ID an album as out of time as A Lonely Man Does Foolish Things, which will be released on 12XU Records this June 18th.

MOUNT CARMEL and TEMPLE OF THE GOLDEN DAWN at ZANZABAR, Friday, November 23rd

Cropped Out and The Other Side of Life are proud to present:

MOUNT CARMEL (Columbus, Ohio; on Siltbreeze Records)

and

TEMPLE OF THE GOLDEN DAWN (Louisville, Kentucky)

Friday, November 23rd
at ZANZABAR
2100 S. Preston
9 PM, 21-and-over
$5 advance online tickets available here: http://zanzabarlouisville.ticketfly.com/event/187621/;
$7 day of show admission

For those swayed by the magisterial authenticity of MOUNT CARMEL on their eponymous 2010 debut album: its follow-up Real Women finds the band honed and sharper, thus delivering what might be the best sophomore album released by an American blues-based power-trio since ZZ Top’s Rio Grande Mud. Nods to Free, Humble Pie, even Trapeze can be sussed out in the mix, but at the end of the day, Real Women is straight-up MOUNT CARMEL all the way. Searing leads, smokey vocals, thundering rhythms, cascading drums, hyperbolic hyperbole… it’s all here. MOUNT CARMEL brings back the spirit of 1973 like no one else. The only difference now is better weed and shittier barbiturates. It’s hands-down pure rock, no frills. Nary a retro contrivance is to be heard. These guys live it for real. Honest.
